My MAC Halloween Day Haul
I’m oiling like an oil rigg these days so I had enough and decided to hit up the MAC store to finally try out MAC Blot pressed powder in Dark. I really like it. Anything is better than using a paper towel (pressing it over my face removes my makeup) or several blot sheets (which gets expensive). I really should try the loose powder instead because I think I’d like it better, but for portability reasons and to not mess up my purses by mistake, I went for the pressed powder. I am not using the powder puff it came with because I can imagine it getting really dirty and oily and just plain nasty. Gross. Price: $21.00

I also picked up a mineralized eye shadow from the Style Black collection, which I said I wasn’t going to bother with but when I saw Gilt By Association I had to have it. I thought I would have gone for Blue Flame because I love all MAC blue colors on me. I am not a purply girl, but I will wear purple so I skipped Young Punk. I think I may go back and get Cinderfella because it’s so me. Gilt By Association just looks the best out of the four to me. Price: $19.50

Lastly, I picked up two permanent eyeshadows. The first one I picked up was MAC Plumage which is a dark blue whale type of color – that’s the best way I know to describe it. Moby Dick like. It is a matte color and it went well in my crease when I paired it up with MAC Silverthorn (LE) on my lid.
I also picked up the ever lovely MAC Antiqued which is a burnt orangey color…it is a great jewel tone for sure. It is a veluxe pearl which means it’s easy to work with and it has some shimmer in it. I love this color for when I want to tone it down, like today. It was a rainy mess outside so instead of coming home looking like a racoon from the usual flashy colors I wear, I decided to bust out some MAC Antiqued, MAC Patina and MAC Dark Edge (LE) as a “Fall Seasony” look today. Price: $11.oo each (pan)

This Week’s Tiny Collective Haul
This past Saturday I picked up two eyeshadows from Victoria Secret. I went in there just to look at the makeup again (it was second time ever) while my husband and my little one were playing around in the Toys R Us Holiday Store at Garden State Plaza Mall. I also visited the Bobbi Brown counter at Nieman Marcus and the MA told me that they didn’t have any holiday items in. I wanted to try out that Chrome Metallic Lip Color from the Bobbi Brown Holiday Collection 2009.
Anyhooo, the first eyeshadow I picked up is called “24k” which is a straight up gold shimmery type of color and finish which shows in a metallic way on the skin. I really like this one because it’s so vibrant and pigmented. I dip only once and I get enough product on my brush to put on my lid.
The second eyeshadow I picked up is called “Decadent” and it is the same type of shadow as “24k” except that it’s a dark purple color, but not very dark. I think this eyeshadow is OK to use as a base and that’s just what I did with it. This shadow is not pigmented and I found that I had to keep dipping back and forth into the pot just to get a good base on. I haven’t tried this yet, but I recommend wetting this eyeshadow with water, a mixing medium or Fix+ from MAC because I think it works better this way as far as picking up enough color and then getting it to show on your skin. This shadow is not easy to work with.
Here are pics of my Victoria Secret eyeshadows. I chose these two colors because they looked more interesting than the others. There was a black shadow as well with flects of silver glitter in it, but it looked a lot like MAC Blacktied so I passed. Nars also has one like it, but I forget the name. Price: $10.00 each

Swatches:

And then lastly, today, I went to Sephora to take a look at NARS Lovejoy blush and I think I like it a lot so it is going to go in my shopping cart on the website for sure after I’m done writing up this post. I want to take advantage of that 20% discount from their Friends and Family Sale online.
I also stopped by the MAC store (of course) and picked up two permanent eyeshadows. The first one I picked up was Coppering and it is a bronzey red type of color and it has a veluxe pearl finish (which I love). Patina has been on my list for a long while so I finally picked that up and it’s a brown shimmery color (also a veluxe pearl finish) and it will make such a cool blending color for me. A blending color with some umph in it. Patina is more interesting than Mulch or even Saddle to me. I will be getting Mulch in the future though. Price: $11.00 each (pan)
I also picked up a quad pro palette for when I have those days where I’m rushing to get out of work. I can just throw in some pans from my larger palette into my quad and go. This item will be very very helpful to me. Price: $3.50
