A Beauty Supply Haul

I love beauty supply stores so when I saw one while walking around with my hubby and daughter at Columbus Farmers Market yesterday I had to go in.  It is a wholesale store call J&M so everything in there was priced cheap.  My total order came to $20. so that was good.

J&M had  lots and lots of CoverGirl, Maybelline, Victoria Secret, Jordana,  L’Oreal, Avon, The Body Shop, Physician’s Formula and Revlon makeup (there were more brands, but I can’t think of any more right now). They also had lots of makeup brushes and other tools.  They had nail polishes of a brand I never heard of and I cannot remember the name.

Earlier in the day I had watched GregoryGorgeous’ new Youtube video re: Skincare and he mentioned St. Ives (but he switched over to Cetaphil) but I grabbed a couple of products anyway because my breakouts are still going on since I switched over from Neutrogena to Clean & Clear.  So yeah, I grabbed St. Ives Elements Olive Scrub (which I tried out already and it left my skin so soft and feeling clean $2.99) and St. Ives Swiss Formula Firming Mask (that I also tried out today and it left my skin amazingly soft – $2.99).

I also grabbed a bottle of Johnson’s Extra Conditioning Baby Shampoo for my brushes ($1.99), a random bottle of top coat for my nails because I needed one ($1.00),  L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Liquid Liner in Carbon Black ($1.99), Secret Deodorant ($2.00) and two Maybelline Unstoppable liners in Espresso and in Onyx.  Hubby picked up some Colgate toothbruhes and something else…I can’t remember.  Here is my beauty supply haul pic.

My New Makeup And Skin Care Blog!

As all first posts to new blogs go (as I did with the first posts in all of my other blogs) is to do an introduction post as a way of starting off on the right foot. So, here is my beauty resume.

INTRODUCTION

Hello! My name is Tanya aka Sass aka blacKandi (pronounced Black Kandi) and I am the beautiful owner of this new blog called, “Properly Made Up”. The subjects of my makeup and skincare blog will only cover my own personal experiences with makeup, giving makeup reviews, talking about my makeup collection, sharing my makeup / beauty hauls and discussing makeup storage.  Sweet? Totally.

EXPERIENCE

I love makeup and although I started wearing makeup when I was 30 years old (last year) I think that I have come a long way from that “plain girl”. Being the plain girl is great and I am not knocking it at all as I go out natural all the time, but I found that it was time for me to start covering up my imperfections (now that I am getting older) and that’s why I wear makeup…TO COVER UP MY IMPERFECTIONS and not to hide how I really look from the World. It makes me feel better to know that my appearance is on the money which gives me more confidence when I am out in public. I love playing with different brands of makeup and I am not brand loyal at all. I will try out high end to cheap products that are NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS. I am not a PETA member or animal advocate, but I love all animals. I only buy makeup that I know I’m going to use. I do not collect makeup, I collect Disney Pins and inspirational quotes only. :)

I started out with Bare Escentuals (BE) because well, it is easy to apply and since I was a beginner in makeup it was the best decision I made for myself. BE has a lot of starter kits so that was great for me at the time and I urge all beginners to the “Makeup World” to start there on the high end. I love BE and it is my favorite makeup brand of all time. I love mineral makeup and since I’ve learned how to keep the mess it makes minimal I’m really loving it. E.L.F. cosmetics also has starter kits for beginner or for those who want to try out their products that sell for close to pennies if you want to start out on the low end. I also love MAC, Stila, NYX, Urban Decay, Smashbox, Clinique, L’Oreal, CoverGirl, Yabi and those nameless mega numbered color palettes (ie. 88 palette and 28 neutral palette). I have yet to try out Illamasqua (I can’t wait), Benefit, Chanel and Nars.

EDUCATION

I don’t have any makeup or skincare education…not formally.  I use products and if I like them I keep using them and if I hate them I dump them.  That’s it!

SKILLS

Although I have not had any formal training in the makeup arts I do understand how to work with the basics of makeup. Everyday is a learning experience with me. Everyday I am trying out new looks and new products (through sampling) so I hope you will all take this journey with me. I am going to have a ball showing you what I can do.

Thank you for reading and I hope you will subscribe AND also comment on my posts.
