The Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. 3 NYC Event

…was a personal success for me.  I scored an Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. 3 t-shirt and I am very happy about that (my reason for arriving in line at 8:15am).

I arrived in Times Square at 8:15am on August 25, 20010 to get my hands on that Book of Shadows and t-shirt and found a little later that I was #8 in line!  How cool is that?  I waited – stood in that line the entire time from 8:15 to 1pm.  I sipped from my bottle of water here and there throughout the time I was in line.  My man brought me a breakfast burrito from McDonald’s to snack on and a Drake’s cake…what?  I was hungry and I had no choice, but to eat it.   Ha!  I made up for it later, by eating all good foods so my diet wasn’t a total fail that day.

Urban Decay Naked Palette Review & Swatches

I know that a lot of you own this Naked palette, have seen the swatches and whatever else, but I wanted to post this to my blog because I really love this palette.  I’ve only owned it for almost one full day and I adore it.

All of the shadows are soft, are easy to work with, the color range is sweet for creating neutral and smokey looks, the palette is sleek, long (about 7 3/4 inches long),  light weight, has a small mirror inside, the lid is magnetized so when you close it it is secure to not open (throw it in your bag) and comes with a double ended 24/7 eyeliner pencil…Zero and Whiskey.   It also comes with a sample size Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

As far as the 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Whiskey goes, it is a great brown liner and it actually covers my water line and shows as a brown liner.  I own MAC eye pencil in Costa Riche and it’s terrible…not sure why.  It should go in better, but anyway, Whiskey is the bomb ya’ll!

You get 12 eyeshadow colors and they are all gorgeous.  I think this is a palette I’m always  going to take on vacations with me.  The packaging is sturdy and strong.  The feel of it is like velvet, but it’s not.  This product is just all the way around a hit from Urban Decay and I am so happy to have it.  I paid $44.00 for it and Sephora just sent an email saying that’s it back on the website for sale.  This palette is permanent so you don’t need to run out and get it…but I heard that it sells out and that they have to reorder quite frequently.

Here are the pictures and swatches!  Enjoy!

And just a side note, nothing serious, but why didn’t they make the eyeshadow guide in the back flat because I save them.  I’m getting ready to put the ends off, but still…here is a pic of what I’m talking about in comparison to my other Urban Decay eyeshadow key guides:

That’s all…

An Overdue Sephora Haul

I ended up at Sephora yesterday after work because that damned Urban Decay Naked palette has been on my mind the past few days.  I really wanted to hate this palette because I really don’t need anymore eyeshadows at this point – just put in my order for MAC Dare to Wear – I have 5 new eyeshadows on the way.

There are lots and lots of reviews on Youtube regarding the product and a lot of them were from women of color which I rarely see on Youtube when it comes to Urban Decay…across the board so that’s what sucked me in.  Anyhow, I ended up picking up more than just that palette.  Take a look!

OK so I picked up an Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin (loving it!) $18.00 and I’m going to post my review about my Naked palette ($44.00) in another post so here we go with everything else I got…

Another eye lash curler because I needed one so why not go Shu Uemura this time around?  So I got one for $19.00.

When I saw this eyeshadow in my promo email from NARS I knew I had to have it.  It’s called Daphne ($23.00).  It looks like a beauty in the pan, a mess on my hand swatched out and I have yet to put it on my eyes so I’ll let you guys know how it goes in a new post.  It looks like a hot purple with some royal blue undertones in it…very pretty looking.  There is a swatch located  all the way at the bottom of this post for this shadow on NC45/NC50 &  NW45 skin.

I have been pondering about this next product for a very long time and it’s been on wantages list for a long time as well because I was NOT about to pay $42.00 for some facial cream.  It is called Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer and I got it in Mocha (the darkest color – great that it matches my skin tone because it is the only “dark” color in the line).  Well what had happened was (lol) I got angry with liquid and cream foundations this summer because it’s just too heavy for to be wearing out in this heat.  I went for the gusto and bought it.  I figure that if I don’t like it I can just return it.

Today is my first time wearing it.  Alone, I can get light to medium coverage from it, it moisturized my face (it was very dry this morning because I didn’t moisturize), it didn’t feel like I had anything on my face because well it’s not a foundation, but it does cover.

I went over it with some concealer under my eyes and around my nose and yes, I set it (was I supposed to do that?) with a very light coat of MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural on top.  It looked beautiful afterwards (9:30am) and I’m looking in a mirror now and I’m just a little oily, but not massively as I would have been with MUFE Mat Velvet by now.  It is now 3:45pm.  I still have some more testing to do so I’m going to say if I like it or not just yet, but I think I’m going to.  Off to go blot!

Swatches!

Sephora, Bare Escentuals and MAC Haul…YAY!

Yesterday after a HUGE New York & Company (50% off everything plus $70 off purchases over $150 – I did major damage) and Disney Store (the family and I are going to DISNEY WORLD for Halloween so I had to pick up a few thing – did major damage here too as I always do) haul, I decided to head on over to my other two places to shop…Sephora and MAC!  Yay!  I picked up some great items.  I’ll start with Bare Escentuals….

I don’t like Bare Escentuals anymore, but I’ve always wanted their eyeshadow in Denim and so I finally bought it.  It’s just a frosty deep royal blue color and I just love it.  I love love love love it.  I didn’t open it to swatch it because I didn’t feel like dealing with minerals everywhere.  I know you all understand that.  Price: $13.00

And here is my MAC haul!  I only picked up two items.  I did a  Back 2 MAC and got an eyeshadow in Cranberry (turned in 6 empty MAC eyeshadow quads – $0).  I was going to get another neutral color, but I have so many already…trying to fill up my palettes with lots of color now.  Lastly, I finally gave in and bought the “ever shedding” (so I’ve heard many times) 109 brush (Price: $32.50).  I’m going to use this brush for the first time today with my new NARS Sheer Matte foundation that is included in my Sephora haul below.

Last, but not least…my Sephora haul!  I asked for my belated b-day gift so I got that.  It’s a Sephora eyeshadow, an eyeliner brush and a mascara.  I haven’t looked into what it is exactly so I can’t say. I also picked up a staple, Urban Decay Primer Potion (Price: $18.00).  I have a tube of Too Faced Shadow Insurance in my collection, but I find that Urban Decay works better for me…those two items are very different to me and I hear folks say a lot that they are equivalent.  I think not!

I also picked up my very first Make Up For Ever item and I bought an eyeshadow in #99 (Price: $19.00).  I had been wanting a red eyeshadow for a long long time and was going to get it from MAC Pro, but I just haven’t been making it over to NYC lately.  I went for MUFE and I am super happy with my only red eyeshadow.  I had to get another NARS blush because I love them so and got Torrid blush (Price: $26.00) which was next on my list to get.  It is a beautiful corally color (not so much brown as Lovejoy), not to shimmery blush…it’s gorge!  I’m running out of MAC Studio Fix Fluid so I decided to give NARS Sheer Matte foundation (Price: $42.00) a try and I got it in the shade “Trinidad”.  If this is not my shade (it was the darkest available) then I’m going to return it for a refund, but I have heard great things about it.

And lastly, I had to get this nail polish I saw on  BeautyChameleon.com while surfing through it called, “Under My Trench Coat” – Sephora by OPI (Price: $9.00).  When I saw the swatch about a month ago I was like I had to get it so I got it.  It reminds me of a brighter Metro Chic with no purple undertones.  I love it.  It’s unique when it comes to my polish collection.

That’s all!!!  Next haul will be massive and it will be from the MAC To The Beach Collection.  I am so looking forward to that collection.
