My new GLAM carry-on travel bag…

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

OK so the love of my life and I decided that we are no longer going to pay the damned airlines to check our extra luggage when we go on vacation and have them charge us extreme fees to do so.  No mas!  We are tired of paying the extra fees which can become very hefty depending on how many suitcases you check into the airport.  Also, checking luggage cuts down on my duty-free shopping time and that is very annoying when Iam just making it to the airport on time (wink).  And I know that there will be times where I’ll need to check in a bag depending on how long we go away for, but when we take an airplane we’re only gone for at most 5-7 days and there are always laundry facilities at our reach.

Our solution is to just cut out the extra luggage (grrrrr) and to just travel lite.  Common sense?  Yes, but I tend to take a lot of stuff with me on vacation – it’s stuff I need!  Anyway,  I have now gone down from a huge rolling duffle bag that has to be checked (almost always a little over 50lbs – I have to take a couple of things out to bring it to 50) to a cute, textured (scaley), patent leather carry-on with swivel wheels.  The wheels are swivel, as I said,  so you can turn the carry on in 360 degree turns easily.  It feels as if the carry-on glides when you pull it or move it around..   The best thing about it is that I can take it with me on the plane.

The name of the maker of my carry-on is  Kathy Van Zeeland, retails for $260.  I grabbed it at TJ Maxx for $79.99.   Thanks again for the great prices TJ Maxx!  The name of the carry-on is called the “Kathy Van Zeeland Travelware GLAM shot 21″ Expandable Upright”.   When I saw it I said that belongs with me.  It’s chic, glossy looking, has cute embellishments, is textured material, the color black, durable and it’s totally glam from my point of view.  The “I’m Yours” luggage tag came with the bag for free and I think it’s a nice touch to the bag.  The tag matches the inside of the carry-on so it gets to stay!

Every embellishment, the pull out handle  and zippers are in tact and are all still covered in the plastics they came in.  The carry-on is sturdy and is good quality = it can take a beating if it needed to go through one.  The carry-on is expandable so I can put more stuff in it if need be.  I can keep it looking nice longer and keep it from getting destroyed at the airport because I can carry it on the airplane without checking.  Sweet!  It was the last black one so I jumped on it quick.  I just think this carry-on is so me and it’s fabulous to boot!

SIDE NOTE:  I included this in my beauty blog because luggage is storage and it hold/protects makeup and beauty products like a purse.  Luggage can definitely be made to be an added fashionable accessory.  Ha!

Here are pictures (taken with my Iphone outside so forgive me for bad quality) and a tour of my new carry-on…

Fashion Accessories Haul From This Past Weekend (Part 2)

Friday, August 13th, 2010

Ok so I got these two lovely pieces from one of the millions of costume jewelry spots on Canal St. in Chinatown (Manhattan, NY) aka Made in China – but I bought them anyway because of the cute and hot factors…I paid $12.00 for the earrings and $13.00 for the ring.

There were no necklaces or bracelets to match there which was sad, but I’m sure I can find something anywhere that will go well.  The place was crowded so I did a “hurry up and buy”  in the place.  LOL.  I wore these the day after I got them and they are definitely bling material.  Love them both!

These earrings are large hoops, but not X-large and would be considered heavy if they were larger.  The ring is big, stretches so it’s one size fit all, but is not overly huge like the butterfly ones you see all over online.  Me likey.  Very pretty.

The ring on my finger (yes, I know it’s time for a manicure).

Last, but not, least…I got these two pairs of earrings for a buck each in a tiny store (in Chinatown) that has lots of Claire’s earrings for sale to sort through.  If I would have had more time I would have gone through everything.  Maybe next time.

Fashion Accessories Haul From This Past Weekend (Part 1)

Friday, August 13th, 2010

This past weekend I went to Chinatown (in Manhattan, NY) and Payless Shoe Source where I picked up some new costume jewelry.  I love costume jewelry to death and I was hungry for more so as I ran into things I bought them.  This post is of the stuff I got from Payless only…the next post will be the couple of items I got from Chinatown.  Here we go!

I found myself in Payless to see what shoes they had for the big feet girls in the size 10 section because they never have anything cute for us and if they do they only order one pair so that means everything cute is sold out.  Anyway, I picked up two pairs of flats – one pleather and the other patent leather – to wear to work during the week.  It’s all good.

I then hit up their limited jewelry rack, but there was so cute stuff on there so I picked this stuff up…there was a buy 1 and get the 2nd one 50% off everything in the store so I was compelled to get some fashion accessories (all Minicci brand, of course and everything was $9.99 and under – less with the discount):

I love love love this bracelet…it was $9.99 at full price.

This stretch ring looks like the color of titanium or maybe a little darker, it’s shiney and the balls in the middle move so they jingle a little bit when you  move your hand.  Cute!  Can’t have enough studs so I picked up another multi-stone pair.

This necklace is gorgeous.  It’s double strand and reaches just above my belly button.  It’s just enough flash for me and it’s my first long necklace ever and it’s rare that I like long necklaces like this.  Very pretty.

Last, but not least, I picked up a pair of shades / sunglasses.  HOT in person…the pics do it no justice.  They are light brown with gold embellishments.  Pure love.  Reminds me of J. Lo.

A Burlington Coat Factory Costume Jewelry Haul

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Burlington Coat Factory (some of the stores) have a great selection on costume jewelry for cheap.  The price range is equivalent to Forever VII’s costume jewelry range of $2.99 – $9.99 per item.  I was happy to pick up a few things from the bunch about two weeks ago…I’m going to need to go back soon.  Here is what I bought:

My Coach Factory Store Haul

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

The Sunday before last I purposely took the drive in bad weather to go up to Tannersville, PA to go to the Coach Factory Store.  Coach sent me another 20% off postcard set to expire on December 24, 2009 so I wanted to use it this time.  I get to the factory store and they are having a 50% off plus 20% off sale going on so I didn’t even need to use my postcard.  I picked up only two bags because they were the only ones I liked and were my style out of all of the bags there.

I spotted this burgandy bag with traditional coach design all over it and immediately went for it.   The strap is in patent leather and also in a burgandy color which I love because it’s chic and not cute like the pink and sky blue baggies they had all around me.  The bag is also large and strong so that was another plus for myself.  I wore this bag a couple days last week and I’ve gotten lots of compliments on it.   Price:  $398  Sale: $159 -50% off + 20% off.

And I also picked up another Zoe in black.  I already have one in red (which I adore) so I got a black one because I love the ZOE so much and the color is totally me (I am a dark soul, but in a positive way).  And that’s all I found that really fit me…unfortunately.  People were  buying 10 and 12 bags each and I’m guessing they were all for Christmas gifts.  Anyway, I love the Zoe because it’s a large bag and it goes right over my shoulder AND I can wear it everyday if I want.  Love.  Price: 398  Sale: 159 – 50% off + 20% off.

Earrings: Never Leave Home Without THEM!!!

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

OK so this past weekend I picked up a few pairs of earrings and a cute ring from Claire’s.  What had happened was (lol) that on the way to the outlet stores in Tannersville, PA I forgot to put my earrings on and left them home so I was out and about walking around bare.  I don’t like it when I don’t have any earrings on so when I ran into Claire’s I told Hubby we needed to go in.  The Claire’s at the outlet store is not a discount Claire’s.  It is a regular Claire’s which sucks because it has the same deals as the Claire’s in the regular shopping malls.

Moving on…Claire’s has a buy 2 get 1 free type of deal on all earrings everywhere so that’s what I did…I picked out three pairs of earrings, which are all so cute by the way, and accidentally ran into this cute and unique ring that I had to have.  The ring looks like it’s crying Christmas ball ornaments and not the mention, it jingles when you move your hand!  Ha!  I call it my “Silver Jingle Ball Ring”.  I had to get it because it sounds annoying and I love to get on peoples nerves so why not????

OK!  I’m done writing so here are some pics of my costume jewelry haul from Claire’s…

FYI:  On my nails I’m wearing Metro Chic nail polish made by Sephora by O.P.I.  Isn’t my ring cute???!!!

A Costume Jewelry & Accessories Haul

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

I didn’t mean to haul any costume jewelry, but I got some good deals on some pretty pieces so here they are…

This first pic is of a necklace which is a Claire’s brand that I got from a Chinese dollar store in Chinatown (Manhattan, NY).  The stones in it look like stones, but they are plastic and the chain is made of cheap metal links and so is the back of the pendant that holds the plastic stones.  I like it.  It’s light weight and it looks good when I’m dressed casually in black.  I got it for a 2 dollars.

The next pic is of the rest of my Chinese dollar store haul.  All pieces are Claire’s brand and I got them for $1.25 each.  The black earrings are black and I think they are so cute and different.  I’ve only seen earrings like that in metal so when I saw it in black and in plastic I jumped on it.  Love.  The silver earrings are just cute.  I can wear these earrings out or to work…I love the charms that hang from them a lot and they are made out of a light weight metal.  The bracelets I bought are identical and are just dark silver plastic, shiney beads on a thin rubber band which is unfortunate.  I bought a second one just in case I break one.  I decided to wear one to work. I wouldn’t wear these out because I can get drunk and break it.  Ha!  Very pretty though.  I know that Forever 21 carries the same bracelets, but the rubber band is better quality.

Lastly, I went to Payless Shoe Source to get my little one a pair of Dora boots…the ones that look like UGG boots and I ran into $2.00 earrings.  Most of the earrings were marked down from $9.99 so I had to buy.  The earrings speaks for themselves.  I have misplaced one earring and I’m sure it’s in the car some where so I posted the one I had with me.  I hope I can find it!!!!!
