The Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. 3 NYC Event

…was a personal success for me.  I scored an Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. 3 t-shirt and I am very happy about that (my reason for arriving in line at 8:15am).

I arrived in Times Square at 8:15am on August 25, 20010 to get my hands on that Book of Shadows and t-shirt and found a little later that I was #8 in line!  How cool is that?  I waited – stood in that line the entire time from 8:15 to 1pm.  I sipped from my bottle of water here and there throughout the time I was in line.  My man brought me a breakfast burrito from McDonald’s to snack on and a Drake’s cake…what?  I was hungry and I had no choice, but to eat it.   Ha!  I made up for it later, by eating all good foods so my diet wasn’t a total fail that day.

MINOR RANT…I mentioned before that I STOOD in line, well, I didn’t bring a chair because I simply forgot (it was ok because I can stand for long periods of time), but some other people got really “creative” which got me upset, but whatever.  In Times Square, in front of the large tv screen, they closed the side of the street that Sephora is on off  for tourists and put out tables and chairs for people to sit and chill out.  This is also the place where they hold the Yoga in the City thing (which I’m going to participate in next time).  Anyway, some people behind me thought it was a good idea to take those chairs and sit in them on the Sephora line.  I was outdone.  I am no good two shoes, but I know wrong when I see it.  Everybody is standing up and they are sitting…no character.  Later on in the day, when it didn’t matter, Times Square Rangers came and took the chairs away – that was around 12:30pm and the event started at 1pm so they stood for 30 mins while the rest of the line in front and around the corner stood for lots of hours.  I’m done ranting now.  I just think that it’s just selfish to do something like that, but that’s just my opinion.  Some people brought their own chairs which was fine of course and some people sat on the ground.  Moving on!

While I was in line, the Sephora people put on our t-shirt wrist bands (the first 200 people in line get a UD limited edition t-shirt) and passed out bags of chips which I thought that was sweet.  Everybody who works at Sephora Times Square is nice just for the record.

Oh and I wanted to mention that the Urban Decay makeup artists were all gorgeous and  nice.  I never saw an Urban Decay makeup artist brush belt before so when I saw it my mouth dropped.  It is so flashy, pink, shiney and cute!  Loving it.  The brushes are awesome as well.  I think I want all of ‘em.  The man isn’t trying to hear it, so I have to pass for now.  A UD makeup artist came out and gave away Pocket Rocket samples and the one I have has no name on it so I have to find out what his name is so I can go buy the full size.  Another Sephora employee came out with the Book of Shadows Vol. 3 to show everyone in line while waiting and I thought that was cool…his box didn’t light up.  *shrugs*   They did a wonderful job of trying to keep us from going bored.

@UrbanDecay411 had tweeted the day before that the first 20 people to tweet a pic from the event would get a full-size mascara…so I tweeted one and he/she said I’d get the mascara so I’m very happy about that too.

I purchased the Book of Shadows Vol 3. and with that I got a 10% Sephora VIB discount along with a sample Stardust eyeshadow in the color 54.  I didn’t use my 600 and so odd points so they are still in the bank.  My total came to $53.00…the retail price of the book is $54.00 so I saved a dollar.

This item will become available to the public on the Urban Decay site on Sept. 7, 2010.

Lastly, here are pics of the event from my eyes.  I didn’t bother with the makeup consultation because at 2pm I was beat and RET TAH GO!  I wanted to get out of Times Square because it was so crowded as always and that’s not the part of the city I hang in anyways so we bounced.  We made our way over to the East Village and had a late lunch over there where it’s quiet.  Ha!

Notes:  I wasn’t about to get out of line to take major event pics and I took these pics with my Iphone so I apologize for both of these situations.
